Each June, United Way of Monmouth and Ocean Counties hosts Week of Action, a weeklong initiative that mobilizes volunteers, community partners, and residents to take meaningful action in response to needs across Monmouth and Ocean Counties. Reflecting United Way’s mission to mobilize communities so all can thrive, Week of Action provides opportunities for individuals and organizations to make a tangible difference through hands-on service.

For more than 59 years, United Way has worked locally to strengthen resilience, advance health, expand youth opportunity, and build financial security for individuals and families throughout the region. While activities vary each year, Week of Action engages volunteers in projects such as assembling essential kits, supporting local nonprofit organizations, revitalizing community spaces, and participating in donation drives. Through these collective efforts, volunteers help address critical community needs and create meaningful, measurable impact in just one week.

Why It Matters

When volunteers donate diapers, assemble essential kits, clean service vehicles, or support local agencies, they help build a stronger, more connected, and compassionate community. Every volunteer effort, large or small, makes a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families throughout Monmouth and Ocean Counties.

Week of Action also provides a valuable opportunity for businesses to engage employees in service, strengthen team connections, and deepen their commitment to the communities where they live and work.

Ways You Can Help

Volunteer opportunities during Week of Action include:

• Diaper Drive: Donations needed from preemie through Size 5
• Birthday in a Box Assembly

Each activity directly supports local families, schools, food pantries, and community organizations throughout Monmouth and Ocean Counties.

To participate in Week of Action, volunteers can register through the United Way of Monmouth and Ocean Counties volunteer portal. First-time users will need to create an account, while returning volunteers can simply log in and select their preferred activities.
